Enter a value from a headphone app, health data, or sound-level estimate. If you do not have a measurement, estimate conservatively.

Enter how long this session actually lasted. Multiple sessions today are added together.

Step 2: Today's accumulated dose

Below the daily 100% dose so far; ear breaks are still a good idea.

100% dose time at current level8 hours

Current estimated level: 85 dB(A)

Remaining time at current level8 hours

Step 3: Today's dose chart

The doughnut chart shows used dose and remaining 100% allowance; red means the daily dose is exceeded.

Step 4: Today's details

Formula and honest disclaimer

  • Model: 85 dB(A) for 8 hours = 100% daily dose; every +3 dB halves the safe time.
  • This is not medical or hearing diagnosis. dB conversion is estimated, and real exposure depends on device, headphones, ambient noise and fit.
  • Following WHO Make Listening Safe concepts, lowering volume, shortening time and taking breaks matter more than chasing exact numbers.

WHO Make Listening Safe

The calculation uses 85 dB(A) for 8 hours as 100% daily dose and follows the NIOSH 3 dB exchange rate: every 3 dB increase halves the allowed time. For background on decibel dB.

How to use it well

  • After music, podcasts, games or meetings, add the estimated level and minutes manually.
  • If you do not know the dB value, use the volume-percent estimate or descriptive level, but treat it as a safety reminder.
  • When today's dose approaches 80%, reduce volume or take a break; do not treat 100% as a target.

Why it does not claim automatic monitoring
