What is the 10-second intuition timer challenge?

It is a tiny but surprisingly sticky human perception game: press Start, the elapsed seconds disappear, and you stop only when your inner clock says the target time has arrived. The result uses performance.now() for millisecond precision and shows actual time, error percentage, rating, recent attempts, and your personal best.

time perception / time perception

time perception describes how the brain estimates duration, order, and rhythm. Read more on Wikipedia: Time perception, the internal clock model, and the MDN performance.now() reference. This challenge is a lightweight game, not a medical test; attention, excitement, fatigue, music, and counting strategy can all change your sense of duration.

internal clock

  • Start with the classic 10-second target, then compare 5-second and 30-second rounds.
  • Random target mode reduces memorized rhythm and makes each round feel more like an arcade challenge.
  • Your attempts stay in this browser through localStorage; no account is required.
