What is the Creator Audio Pre-Publish Health Check?
A free online audio quality analyzer designed for YouTubers, Podcast hosts, and musicians to quickly self-audit audio specs before publishing. Simply upload an audio or video file and the tool measures LUFS integrated loudness (following ITU-R BS.1770), True Peak levels, clipping rate, and DC offset — all locally in your browser without uploading to any server.
What is measured?
- LUFS (Loudness Units Full Scale) — the standard unit for measuring perceived loudness; major streaming platforms use this for loudness normalization
- True Peak — detects the highest inter-sample peak amplitude; used to prevent clipping distortion during digital-to-analog conversion or lossy encoding
- Clipping Detection — measures the percentage of audio samples at or above the 0 dBFS ceiling, which causes harsh digital distortion
- DC Offset — detects DC bias in the audio signal; DC offset shifts the waveform baseline away from zero and can degrade post-processing quality
Platform LUFS Standards
YouTube targets ~-14 LUFS and will auto-reduce louder content; Spotify/Apple Music targets -14 LUFS; Podcast industry standard is -16 to -19 LUFS; Instagram/TikTok/Facebook target ~-14 LUFS; Broadcast (EBU R128) is -23 LUFS. True Peak should not exceed -1.0 dBTP to survive lossy encoding on streaming platforms.
This tool uses an approximation of ITU-R BS.1770 K-weighting filter via the Web Audio API. Due to browser BiquadFilter precision and sample rate constraints, results may differ from a professional DAW by up to ±0.5 LUFS. For broadcast-grade accuracy, cross-verify with your DAW's LUFS meter.
